so it looks like i'm gonna have a tank to build

probably gonna have to do it real sloooooow, but i have most of the equipment since i sold the high-dollar stuff. if somebody would buy the 50 & standasaurus rex, i'd probably have enough to finish......

anywhoo, here's what i have:
* glasscages 29 gallon tank - display tank
* 20-long tank - sump tank
* (2) icecap 24" t5 retrofit kits w/ giesemann 6k & pure actinic bulbs
* glass-holes.com 700gph overflow box & 1.5" bulkhead
* glass-holes.com 3/4" bulkhead(s) & hardware for return(s)
* ocean runner 3500 for return pump...unless that'd be too much flow for the return & i can use it for a small-scale closed-loop since i have the bulkheads for that already as well
*good ro/di machine w/ tds meter

what i'd need:
* 30lbs of rock
* a few random pvc fittings (couple ball valves, unions, etc)
*wood for stand & canopy (much smaller scale this time around) LOL
* mag 7 or ocean runner 2500 for return pump if i use pump above as mentioned for closed-loop
* bag of play sand (i have more than enough live sand here to seed new tank)
* some type of skimmer (thinking asm mini-g or g1....fairly easy to come by in the sale forums w/ a little patience)

so that would give me a pretty nice-sized tank yet still a manageable size that wouldn't "break the bank".

also torn between drilling the bottom & doing glass corner overflow box instead of the glass-holes overflow. that way, the plumbing would go thru the bottom & leave the back able to sit close to the wall. if i did that, i wouldn't do the closed loop since i wouldn't want that drilled in the bottom for flooding issues & doing it in the back defeats the purpose of the corner overflow box

lastly, my other thought was to buy a glasscages 40-square (24x24x17) for $132. i'd build a 6" section along the entire back for a sump/fuge like the biocubes etc. that'd leave 24x18x17 for the display & i'd do a rock wall to leave the majority of the sandbed open. then i'd only need
* a small pump for a return pump....like a maxijet 1800
* maybe like a tunze 9002 nano skimmer
* the rock for the rock wall
* sand

so i'm torn between the 29 w/ external sump/fuge or a 40 all-in-one

thoughts??? suggestions???

James call Ty at OceaAquariumProducts and get yourself a tank. The one I am getting is basically a 60 cube with the sump and fuge built on the back and its cheap in my opinion. I added some bells and whistles to mine but if you got a little bit of a smaller tank and minus the starfire glass I got (on all 3 sides) Id say youd be in for a little to nothing. Id sale what I had and get a tank from him and take off. Also if you did this after you got the tank all youd have to get is a return pump, heater (which I know you have) and lights and BAM !!!! your on your way. Just my advice but thats what id do. If you dont like this and want to do soemthing else get in touch with me and Bill when you get ready to build your canopy and stand. Maybe we can turn your T-Rex stand into a Lizard stand thats a little easier to handle. Need anything shoot me a message.

well i kept my (2) 24" 2-bulb retros & the bulbs, so i have lights. if i do an all-in-one, i'll probably get it from glasscages since i can drive there in 30 minutes or so & not pay shipping

i'm just tryin to decide if i want to do an all-in-one & sell the 29 & 20-long or keep them & do seperate sump/fuge & display tanks

hey rhett, sent him a message about a tank. i'll probably just build a new stand & seperate canopy....this time no psychotic size LOL
