So kinda scared to post but know I should

I've had a 8G nano for a little over a year know and it's gotten out of control a little, things growing everywhere. Frogspawn, mushrooms, coralline algea..etc.. I only have one SAFancy clown and a pom pom crab in it. I bought him (the fish) when he was like 1/2 inch long...super small. Well, I feel he has grown a little, in fact he is super beautiful and about 1 inch long. His colors are incredible to me. I wanted more for him. So I bought a redsea reefer 250. It's setup now. And he's in enjoying a little space. But know the questions start coming in. "You got that big 'ol tank for that little fish?" I just don't like a bunch of fish swimming around all cooped up. I do know I want something else in there. I mean really I've got a little room for something. But just don't know what. I really like the corals but dang that's a lot of work.. dosing and stuff blah blah. And by putting more fish in, the bio load just goes up and water changes occurring more frequently etc etc..skimmers..again.. blah blah...

So I'm at a cross roads..just not sure what to do. I would really like to have lemon peel, but just not sure. Sorry for the long rant. Just wanted to poll the audience. Thanks all for the support and feedback.

oh, and BTW, the pompom crab is going in the sump. He's mean as crap. Mean 'ol crabby pants. And huge now. He started off the size of a nickel and now he's like the size of 50 cent piece..

Redsea reefer 250 is a little small for a lemon peel, but with as few fish as you have, it may be doable. Keep an eye on it with coral, though... JMO...

Thanks....and it may not even happen. Was just a random thought. I just think the Lemon Peels look great..

Black Cap Basslets are pretty as well.

What's up with Dottybacks.. are the decent fish?

Dottybacks can be aggressive, but clowns can hold their own against them if they aren't too small. Pseudochromis fridmani is the least aggressive, and they are beautiful.

We have a Royal Gramma that is a great fish. It was funny when we first got him because he would open his mouth wider than one would think it should be able to in attempt to scare us off when we were looking at him. He has since realized we give him food and no longer does that. Great fish that is generally out swimming around taking it all in. He works like clockwork though and at the same time every evening he goes back to his den for the night.

We also have 2 Dottybacks (a sunrise and an orchid). The sunrise has some spunk and pushes the other fish around while the orchid generally tries to stay out of the way. Both are beautiful fish that were ORA purchases.

There is no reason to get other fish if you want to showcase the clown. Another option though could be a goby of some sort. It would take up the space that the clown rarely uses anyway and provide a completely different way of life. I have a tiger goby that does a great job of cleaning the sand while being interesting to watch. It is nice to see someone that is the exact opposite and is fighting with self to add anything more than the one fish rather than put the whole ocean in.

Jawfish are a lot of fun to watch, but they are determined to attempt survival in the open air. Yellow watchman gobies are the same.

I had a Midas Blenny when I had my 120 gallon. They are gorgeous fish, and I love the way they swim. I can't remember tank size requirements for them, but it seems like what you have would work.

I have an older red sea 250. Same size tank. Look at my signature if you want ideas for small peaceful fish. I like to have many tiny fish as opposed to a few larger fish. None of mine are bigger than 2.5"-3". Every one has their own little place in the tank. No aggression at all.

I also have a yellow clown goby in quarantine right now.

Are you planning to trying to find the current clownfish a mate to make a pair? If you did that and got them an anemone you could just have that be the showcase with some bottom dwellers like gobies

Oh and some kind of blenny, I like starry blennies, for algae control. What kind of clowns? Percula, maroon, occelaris? I don't know if you
Already answered that... If so my apologies

I never like the designer clowns with extra white. But that one is really beautiful. The white pattern is so clean and crisp. It looks like it was painted on with extreme precision. Really really cool fish. Are you going to pair it? If so, what "breed" are you going to go with?

30 gallons and The Midas Blenny is an awesome fish. Love mine and he's always out and about. Fun to watch him back into his hole in the LR. Great personality and just an all around fun fish. He also gets along with all of the other fish.

I am between a Midas Blenny and a Gold Assessor for the nano I am setting up now. The Midas was definitely one of my favorites.
