So today....

I went to a LFS that a good friend recommended that I should check out since it's only 2 miles from me. So I walk into the store browsing around and noticed they sold Tunze products. Since I was in the market for a 6000 w/Controller I decided to ask how much expecting an inflated price. To my suprise the guy told me $310 (Marine Depot = $319 + 4 week wait)! So I said I'll take it! I also picked up the Tunze Magnet Mount for $40. SO I get home and opened the 6000 box up noticing it had already been opened. As I looked into the box I see the sticker in the back of the pump saying 6100! So I got a pretty good pump for the price!

Now here's my dilemma. The tank I will be putting it in will be a 36"L x 24"W x 20"H (75g). It will primarily be a SPS tank. Will the 6100 be too much flow for this size tank even with the pump set at it's lowest setting? Will it cause a big sand storm?

its the 6000... the 6100 and the 6000 has the same pump but different transformers. haha, lots of people make that mistake dont' worry. But congrats on the tunze, you'll love it.

oh yeh... i have two 6000s in my tank right now and i had to turn them down to 60 and 20 and then i have it switch every six hours. If I put it at 100 percent, it kicks up way too much sand and I end up without sand in the front of the tank.

Ah, I didn't know they were modular. That's good to know!

I also checked the part # of the transformer that was in the box. It's 7410.602 which is for the 6100. So I have a 6100 after all. I need to purchase 7210.202 which is the transformer for the 6000.

What's the name of the LFS that your friend recommended? Thinking of getting some Tunze as well. Thanks.

It's a 6000, they just use the same motor.

I wondered the same thing when I saw the label on mine.

JOsh

Yes, same motor, but my box had a 6100 transformer in it.
