overfeeding, lighting? I'm starting to get alot of it and my tangs aren't eating it. I can typically pull it right off the rock, but the crap grows fast!.

yo matt...

Bulbs are still ok, but recently moved about a month ago to a 11 to 11 schedule, with the daylight (50/50) bulbs going about 11 hours out of the 12...

Mostly flake and freeze dried foods, but I got a hold of rod's food that I've fed on and off over the last month, but only about 2 times a week.

I need to test my nitrate and dkH, but pH tends to be 8.3 to 8.35

I'll also test phosphates...

btw - the macro algae in my fuge now is growing a really really red fuzzy algae that is taking over....

I;ll try and post pics

Just checked some params

dkH is 9
Nitrates and Phostphates are zero
pH is 8.35

Here's some pics

Are you are using RO/DI water and is your rock fully cured?

Bill

BtW is that a euphyllia in the picture?

tank and rock are nearly 2 years old, RODI is the only thing that goes in, the TDS is 0, I usually change it when it gets around 005.

What are you using to test Phosphate? if its not a photometer or a more expensive kit like D&D then its probably showing a false 0. The nutrients can also be taken up by the algae as fast as there produced. Try getting almost all of it out then check Phosphate and nitrate again after a week.

Your euphyllia should have a bit more colour. Something is off if you have good flow. Hows your skimmer? Any extra nutrients need to be exported. Also do you have enough rock for the denitrification? about 1/3 to 1/2 volume works with plenty in the sump.

Thanks all....

@mako - using an aqaurium pharma kit

@bill - yes, it's a hammer frag that had been bleaching and one of the heads is receding, but I've gotten more color to come back lately. I have a Torch and a Frogspawn that seem to be doing ok, but the extension is not what I'd like.

Skimmer is a bullet-1, it seems to be doing a decent job.

I power my system with a Dart, then I have two Koralia 400's for extra flow.
