So, what's so bad about stable GHA?

I've got green hair algae that looks like long meadow grass on one of my live rocks. It blows in the current like you'd see grass blowing in a meadow on a sunny day. It's deep green and pretty. It's there from my nano, which I migrated to my 55. It was spreading in the nano, but it's stable in the 55 with chaeto in my sump out-competing it for nutrients.

It's a large, soft patch, and it's a great deep green color, isn't full of garbage because my cleaner shrimp maintains it, and looks, frankly: great. My female clown has left the little sand "nest" she and my male made, and now she sleeps in the algae patch at night as if it were an anemone.

What's wrong with leaving it there?

The reason people consider it bad is because it's very hard to get rid of, and can spread quickly.

Once it starts spreading it's very difficult to stop or remove, and it can and will take over every inch of your tank if the conditions are right.

Most people try to remove it while it's still possible.

if it gets out of hand, Mexican turbo snails will handle it within 2 days...at most. but if you like it, i see no problem with it, just watch it though

It's unlikely to remain stable. A cute little patch of it looks nice, but it's extremely difficult to control.

its growing from excess nutrient usually and if you raise the available nutrient it will take over quickly so keep an eye on it . if you like it grow it ,but beware IMO .
good luck
