So whats the best store in the city SF

Ive been to a few stores here in the city (SF) and they all are so pricy and have limited stock what is your favorite? what do they have? sofites sps ....
 
Aquatic Central on Ocean Ave. is one of my favorites simply because it's the closest, they have a wide range of stuff, but it's by no means a "cheap" place on the nicer stuff, but I've gotten plenty of live animals for online prices there.

Ocean Treasures on Dubose is a really pretty store to look in, they usually have a wide range of stuff.

Finally Lucky Ocean over on Balboa is a nice place too, small small store, but you want some more common stuff you go there, or a barracuda :D

Btw most any store is going to be pricy.

Dang easy on the haterade :) I shop at all of our sponsors.. Everyone has different likes and needs.. I check in with multiple shops every week to see what they have.. I get my salt at AC. I've gotten deals from Steve at NAA and the other Steve at LO.. Just gotta go check them all out.... Fish store runs are the best.. :)

You must not have been there lately:) Nice acan ,clams, and lots of other stuff unless your looking for sps:(
 
AC is probably my favorite place in the city. Good-decent variety. Not necessarily cheapest prices on everything but competatively priced. Each store has good things about it. Just have to find which store has the best deal on what you are looking for. Variety is the key, but AC is on my top list for stores in SF.
 
Same here, Chris is very cool. He can work out a deal on pricing with ya.

Oceans Treasure is pretty cool also, their Coral selection is starting to get better. Eric (former A.C employee) is working there now so it's always cool to see familiar faces.

I have to check out the LFS on Taraval haven't been there yet.
How bout the LFS on Clement st, Are they any good?

BTW, for those of you who pre-ordered some Aussie Acans colonies from Chris, Those should be clearing customs tomorrow and should be at Chris store on thursday or friday depending on his delivery guy.
 
my favorite store[ by far] in the city is lucky ocean..steve the owner and dave the employee,are awesome,have great prices on their fish[which are extremly healthy] and from time to time get really cool corals in at great prices. to be honest,ive had bad experiences with the fish ive purchased at other stores,heck dave and steve wont even sell you the fish until there eating and acclimated,at least they will TRY and not sell you a fish they just got in...though lucky ocean isnt the preetiest of the stores,its my favorite.
 
Yeah A.C. burned me before Chris took it over, urchins brought fish disease to my tank (partly my fault as well I take that much blame) but I lost a lot of good fish, a Kole, Naso, and a few others. Didn't want to go back ever, in fact only reason I went back is I heard that they were under new ownership.

Matiby: The place on Clement, IMO is a stay away place. However if you've never been it's worth a look simply to see all the stuff they have. They are cheap, but well we'll leave it at that, no need to bad mouth them :) However since they don't open until 11/11:30am finding parking is a real hassle in that area unless you don't mind walking a few blocks.

Frsfrme: Only if you're filthy rich :D

Ummm...you mean James the store manager at OT right?

I like shopping at just about all the stores in SF, some I frequent more than others. It's all relative, every store cannot be everything to everyone.
 
Beware of Fish, Fish and more Fish on Lombard.
They barely have anything in stock and while I was looking around they sold some guy 2 Achilles Tangs, a Lemon Peel, Coral Beauty, Half black Angel, Blood Shrimp, a Sailfin Tang, purple firefish and Red Star. All these fish and invert.'s were going in a 60gl. I heard him talking about the other fish he had in his tank. The guy from Fish, Fish, and more fish told this guy all the fish would be fine together.

It's clear that all that store cares about is $$$$$$$$. So be careful they'll JACK you and it seems like ANY idiot can own a fish store!

ditto, even though i do frequently shop at A.C., the owner keeps sending me over to Steve's when he doesn't have what i'm looking for. L.O. is by far the most knowledgeable and reputable store around the sf area.

Yeah I went to the fish fish and more fish store and was wondering where they kept the "fish and more fish" part :lol: :lol:
 
as for FF&MF.. I personally haven't had problems with them.. they were actually nice to myself and my wife. I even bought a couple of fish that turned out to be the most healthiest fish in my tank... but to each to his own, maybe depends to on the day, mood of each person and such.... I don't really play into what other people say about others.. I make mind own mind by seeing the place and checking it out.

Just my .02 cents
