So what's your nitrate?

I have a terrible time reading no3 test kits. It's somewhere between 2 and 25 ppm. No algae, corals look healthy so I'm not worried about it. Tank appearance is often a better indicator of health than water parameters.

0.75 according to Red Sea

Would prefer it to be higher. Shooting for 3-5 in an ideal world

Can some people share their secrets? My levels are 15ppm with a red sea test kit for nitrates in a 150gal tank with one fish. Can't seem to bring it down with water changes. Ordered a reef dynamics bio pellet reactor. Let's see if that help

How old is the set up?

Aquariums by themselves will develop some denitrification capability deep in the rocks and sand bed. I have only 2 inches of beach sand and a few granite rocks and my nitrate concentration is 0.2 ppm. 40 gallon tank was set up in February of this year and now has several fish, hermit crabs and shrimp. Just recently added light and macro algae to the sump. It did not lower the nitrates or phosphates. Might not have enough nitrates to grow it the stuff. But I will give it time before trying to lower levels.
