so where do you drill your skimmer cup

should it be on the bottom horizontal surface or the side of the cup? seems like the bottom would be easiest?

Don't drill it at all. You will need to clean your cup and neck every few days anyway. Mine is drilled and every now and then the skimmer goes crazy and the thing overflows the container for the gunk. Right now I have the hose taht was going to the gunk container just hanging above the cup....

I have mine drilled from the bottom and it doesn't leak at all. But I have had it overflow when my skimmer went crazy...

If your lid is secured, make a scrum bucket w/a shutoff valve so overflows can't happen. If it's not secured/sealed, you probably shouldn't worry about drilling it.

What he said and I wouldn't try it again...

Almost had to buy a new cup after my attempt at drilling.
