my clownfish has been pooping white for about a month now. he eats like a pig and exhibits no odd behavior too

Generally white stringy waste means an internal bacterial infection...strange that it's been that way for a month. Is your clown an ocellaris or a perc? False percs have much better immunity...this may explain why it's been wasting white for a month and still exhibiting normal behavior and not acting sick.

what are you feeding him?

OSI marine flake, twice daily.
mysis shrimp once a week

This is an interesting thread as I noticed my orchid dottyback did this last night... should I be concerned? is there some pre-emptive action I should take? any prognosis - time/probability of suvival?

its called brookylena don't know about the spelling though and yes it is an internal infection. try to feed it a variety of foods and increase the nutriton by soaking the food in selcon.

-good luck

Brooklynella is generally known as "clown fish' disease" however many other fish can catch it as well. Agreed with evilfrogs statement...selcon works well. Vitamins for your fish are good to use regularly! Also try dipping food in garlic juices...garlic naturally increases fish immunity...pretty neat!

i think theres some kind of kent garlic you can buy.. othewise you can get a clove of garlic at the grocery store, chop it up and get as much juice as you can out of it.
