So who bought that $800 2" Scolymia from DD?

Do places like DD pay more for a scoly like this? Or do they just bring them in in bulk and price them accordingly?

Normal ones go for $150. I'm not saying that scoly should be $800 but there's no chance of it being $150.

I've seen ones much nicer than that one in different socal LFS for $120-175 or less. In all seriousness, that's by no means even a AAA scoly by collector/wholesale standards, it might (and this is a huge maybe) be an A grade. They for sure paid under $100 for that one.

Can you post a nice pic of a AAA scoly? I;d like to see one to compare to the DD scoly.

After reading this I am quite certain that whoever purchased this coral will not be coming forward.

As for the coral being overpriced, fair pricing is all in the eye of the purchaser. As Steve already mentioned "Somebody thought it was priced appropriately".

Essentially it means no brown. That "purple" part on the OP scoly is just white balanced brownish reflecting their lights. The less color and the more dark spots is how they grade scolys, so that one might be an A grade...
