So, who's right?

When I bought the tank, they told me that I didn't need the glass tops. 72 bow.

Then, today, a person who worked for AGA said that glass tops are a must and could cause a fire???
So, who's right?

I have 260watt pc's with a protective acrylic cover and it sits on legs.

Thanks,
Justin

You would think the manufacturer would not sell the tank without the glass tops if they are "required". You would also think that the manufacturer would not allow a store to sell the tank without the glass tops if they are required.

Lots of people run tanks without the glass tops but who is right? Damifiknow!:D

Hi Justin

Hope the frags have opened up for you. Has the GSP attached yet?

As far as the glass tops to, saltwater tanks do best without the tops on. Remember on my tank I dont have any glass tops on it. The main reason is you need the interaction of gas exchange with the air which glass tops block. Also heat can be an issue as all your heat is trapped inside.

Leave the tops off. If you would like me to drop by and take a look at the tank just shoot me a pm

Thanks clark!
The gsp opened up for a few days but has since kindof dropped off. The tree was doing great but I was having a world of trouble trying to get it to stay anywhere. I rubberbanded it and tried superglue and neither worked so now I have tied it with line. Doing better. The gsp have not attatched yet. Since they have not, I'm actually getting ready to move them to a spot with a little more light. Please let me know if I can help down the road!

I have several things others have donated and they are doing great!

I still can't tell all you how much I have appreciated all the help!

Glass top cut down on light pentration. Remember that! Your lighting cover is fine! Also i do not see where they are getting the whole fire thing from!

For Metal Halide lighting, glass tops or a glass cover are suggested as the bulb could potentially explode if it is splashed with water while in operation and the bulbs emit ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

PC with the cover, can't imagine you need the tops - although I run the on mine and have yet to find a problem (other than keeping them clear of dust and condensation.
