socalcreations tank -- quality?

Have anybody ordered a tank from socalcreations? Can you tell me your experience with them and the quality of their tanks?

I just got mine and Kinetic has ordered from them before and has one in the works currently.

Personally, they do excellent work, keep in touch with you throughout the entire process and there pricing is very reasonable.

I've had two tanks built so far by different builders, and while both were fantastic, SoCal far exceeded my expectations.

Throughout the process they send you updates, pictures, and in the planning process they are very helpful.

I find that with some builders, you have to mention every detail or else they don't do it. With SoCal they will do everything you say, help you make decisions, and make it even better.

My first tank was a 82g which is now in posession of GorillaReefer (I think a MARS member), was simply a 32"x24"x24" tank, eurobraced, with an external overflow with a few holes drilled. SoCal went ahead and made the front corners polished rounded, the top edge polished and rounded, they also made the eurobracing such that I had a lot more clearance than I expected, and precisely drilled holes for a closed loop etc. Amazing work! My other tank, a 98 gallon, 36"x25"x25" was also made with the same specs, but i failed to mention to polish the top eurobracing and round it, and alas, it was not touched by the other builder. My fault, but you can see how SoCal goes above and beyond. SoCal also never skimps on safety, durability, and quality. They use one of the best acrylics, Spartech Polycast, even though it's much more expensive. It was almost impossible to get my other builder to use this acrylic, even willing to pay a bit more, just because they couldn't charge that much for everyone with the left over pieces.

Randy/Steve at socal are great! They will make your tank redundantly strong, and it will definately look great.

They also do amazing work with their stands and sumps. I'd recommend getting the whole system from them, since they make stands to spec and aren't expensive. Sumps are also made just for the tank, to fit perfectly in the stand, so no guesswork needed.

Fantastic work =) I'd highly recommend them.

(their shipping is very reasonable too, and the way they ship is they make a crate for your tank. the crate is amazingly well built too, haha!)

FWfanatics, How are the edges on their tanks? can you post some pictures?

Perry/xinumaster

hey perry, their edges are really nice. polished and rounded precisely. If you have the front corners rounded, it's almost seamless looking!

they also round the top edges and eurobracing as well, so no harsh edges, very straight and precise.

in my experience and what i've read, they must be one of the best custom builders.

when my tank gets out of the shop, i'll post pictures too.

Try to find GorillaReefer, he has my old 82g with the rounded corners.

I got a price quote from them for a 96x30x30 and I can't believe their price for a custom tank would be that reasonable.

Kinetic isn't lying, I own the tank it the pics, and it's the best looking tank I've owned. And I've owned a lot of tanks. Socal deffenitly builds some sweet tanks and take no short cuts. Now I just need to make some time to try and get this tank set up.

Thanks, everyone for your inputs.

Lapsan, we might be able to get a better deal if we order together. If you're also interested on a steel stand his price quote is $675.

Perry,
I sent them a msg about a quote on a steel stand for our new tank... so maybe we can triple up on the shipping and knock the prices down even further :). (all depending on their quote and timeline, of course :)).

Sparkss, that would be great. I hope lapsan would order his tank from them too so we can get a better discount. Rightnow, I'm still debating with myself if I should get the 3/4" thick or 1" thick tank. His price for the 1" thickness tank is 40% lower compared to other major tank mfg.

is that the set up for a joke/punchline ? like how many (insert occupation/ethnicity/group/sterotype here) does it take to change a lightbulb ? :)

j/k.. but I know that shipping companies can take quite a few tanks on a single truck/shipment, so that shouldn't be an issue :)

i have a tank/stand/sump system coming from them soon, you guys should order quick, maybe I can get mine shipped along with yours.
