Hello all
Just wondering what you folks are using as far as set up & supplements for success on your soft coral tanks

I have a 54 Gallon corner tank with 175W 20K MH & 2 T5 Blue+
15 Gallon sump/ fuge with a euroreef ES5-2 skimmer
I have been trying all kinds of supplements & see no change in growth -
I have used seachem reef builder/ reef complete/reef plus
Now I just switched to ESV B-Ionic & use EcoSystem Reef Solution
ARE you guys dosing CA/ ALK and other sups with softies? Are you running CA Reactors? Kal drip?
How Much water do you change and how often ?
Thanks for your thoughts~

I use kalk as make up water to maintain cal/alk levels. Sometimes my alk will drop alittle bit, but I just use baking soda to give it a boost.

I also have used all kinds of supplements with no increase in growth, so I stopped using them.

I change about 10 gals (10%) every 2-3 weeks.

Ramble on!

I guess it's just the basics with us Softie people ;)

- Water Changes: 10% weekly

- Carbon running: Random for me, but a good idea to use

- Slow easy flow (Like those provided by the Maxi-Streamer, Tunze type powerheads, etc)

- I do dose Iodide every now and then... really haven't seen much help from it.. so I will stop dosing once I finish the bottle and be on the look out for any changes...

- Water stability! pH and Alk being the bigger players but calcium shouldn't be forgotten even with softies.

Keep it simple!

Water changes and kalk are all I use. I change 25% of my water monthly. I drip kalk for makeup water. I tried dosing Iodine with Lugols, but didn't see any improvement.

I run carbon as well.

What are your parameters? How often do you do water changes?
