Soft plumbing questions

I've done soft and hard plumbing for my sump 1 time each in the past and liked the soft plumbing due to flexibility of removing or changing without having to cut the pipes.

Anyway my question is: Is it bad to have a threaded drain bulkhead with a screwed in barb fitting as opposed to having a slip bulkhead with a pipe glued in? in terms of leaks?

thanks!

shouldnt be a problem, i used a threaded return bulkhead and never had any leaks from it. Made it nice and easy to remove and clean if needed

leak wise it's a toss up. The issue is restriction. Barbed fittings can significantly restrict flow, so unless you use at least the next size larger barbed fitting you will be limiting your drain capacity

restrict flow? really? i didn't realize that. I assumed it's the same diameter as a pvc pipe so flow would be the same especially since there are less elbows and such to restrict flow. interesting.

As posted it depends on the barb fitting. Look at the interior diameter to see the size and possible restriction.
