softie pics

It is a sinularia... but there is also a long polyp sarcophyton in that picture as well. I will get some more pics here in a few days but this one will have to do for now... it is my newest full tank shot (added a frogspawn, squamosa clam, and a yellow fiji leather). I have three clams in the tank total now: gigas, squamosa, and a derasa (all i need now is a maxima and a crocea to complete the collection). Thanks for the compliments.
WHATS the nice red anemone?I want one....

Its an Aquacultured Rose Bubble Tip Anemone (RBTA)... they are very hardy and very beautiful. But they can also be difficult to find, especially at the right price

I thought it may be,But not seeing the tips bubbled i wasn't sure....Ive been trying to get one from lfs but may have to hunt online for him....VERY nice tank...

If you can I would find one local. Before i bought this one i ordered one from an online source and it was a GBTA that was dyed red... I have been told and seen that these anemones are captured and dyed very frequently in order to catch that higer $$$. Buy one local and buy one aquacultured... it may take a little bit longer but it is well worth it in the end! Thanks for the compliment!

bassettmd,
............or anyone out there.
what is the leather in the middle front of your reef? To the left of the blue clam. Posted 6/22/07. I am a newbie and think I have a small version and need to know what it is and how to carre for it. I don't think it is happy where it is in my reef. And does it have the bumps on it like the Fiji Yellow, or other similar bumpy types.
Thanks
Jean

it looks like a regular toadstool to me but may be wrong.
how long have you had yours ,as they can sulk for a while when they are moved. usually moderate light and current is fine but most areas of a tank will do as long as there is some light.

I think you may be right. Sulking is probably what it was doing. I only had it about a week when I posted, but now it appears to be more alive and comfotable. I am not sure about "happy". I haven't figured out about these animals being happy.

From pics I found on RC, I think it may be what looks like a cabbage leather?
Thanks everyone for the input.
Jean

What type of coral is this? A small piece came attached to some zoos I had purchased, and it is now growing like crazy.

its a lemnalia or litophyton i think. i have one too and yeh it grows like mad and when its bigger it just drops off branches and spreads around the tank.

I am not sure (Sacro. spp. maybe??). I have had that leather for almost 3 years. Maybe someone on this forum will know more.
