New tank I am under the impression that soft corals are easier and require less care than LPS. Is that true? Also I am looking to add my first coral in my tank very soon, which would you recomend for a first timmer. Also how soon can a soft coral be added to new tank?

125Gal, 40gal sump/refug
MH, T5

thanks

Yes, soft corals are GENERALLY easier to keep than LPS, although i personally havent really had any problems with most of the basic lps (hammers, torch, frogspawn, etc).

I would def recommend softies to start first, although with your light (depending on how many and how big the halides are) you should be able to grow just about anything.

I would say dont start with xenia unless you truly want that to be there forever

I would recommend mushrooms, Green star polyps, zoanthids and kenya trees all excellent starter corals. As sir dudeguy mentioned, there are plenty of LPS's that are easy to keep too such as pagoda cups, candy canes (AKA trumpet coral) and open brains.
You have the right idea, start with the softies than try some Lps's.

I have had a lot of luck with soft corals starting out. Kenya tree and zoas have been the easiest for me so far.
