Sohal and Clown together?

dude you carnt just going putting fish in if you think they are going to kill each other. Im sorry but i think that is just worng!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

you're right..... if you know 100% that the fish are going to kill each other and you purposely put them in to see them kill each other then of course it's wrong, but I'm sure (myself included) that none of us here are "tang experts" to know that 100% sure it's going to happen. in a 700g tank, with tons of rockwork and many many fish, I doubt the sohal will even be able to find the clown tang.

Your post is irresponsible, non-factual and not helpful in the least:rolleyes:

my post is irresponsible how??? non-factual how?? and not helpful how?? come to think of it, your post is not very helpful to the original thread post question at all!!!! your post is just to talk smack about what i had to suggest to the original question. if you go back and read my post:
"700g, I'd do it, heck if I had a 700g, I'd try to put in 30+ tangs, keeping in mind that your aquascaping is designed for a lot of fish (no wall rock design!). Go with what makes you happy. get them both at a younger age and see what happens. worst case scenario, one gets killed. I know others will disagree with me, and I respect their opinion, but in this hobby it's good sometimes to go against the norm."

I suggested that I would even try to put 30+ tangs in a 700g tank (again it's what I would do, not you or anyone else, it's me.... besides if I had a 700g tank, it's my own business what I wanna put in there, it's not your business to know what I wanna put in there.)
I also told him that the aquascape had to be designed a certain way. Furthermore, I suggests that he should go with what makes "him" happy!!! I also suggested to get them at a young age (this is trying to help.... hello!!!) But I was informing him that they might kill each other (you didn't understand this part), and I clearly clearly clearly said in the last sentence that others will disagree with me (which everyone is entitled to because everyone has their own opinion, and I even said I'd respect their opinion on the subject matter, but not their opinion on my opinion). I then told him that it's good to go against the norm, which I think is cool cuss being a follower, and always copying people didn't get us to where we are today in this society, it's the guys who dared to try different things that got us to where we are.

anyways, back to the subject matter:
Like I said earlier, if you have such a big tank, you're pretty limitless as far as fish goes, just no whale shark:D , but keep in mind if you like tangs (my favorite type of fish) then keeping a lot of them will be better. when tangs are in great number, they tend to forget to pick on one guy, and they can get along better (no research, just experience). When it's just two tangs, like one sohal and one clown and no other, then yeah they might fight a little bit if they were in a smaller tank. But again, do what makes you happy. If you're favorite fish is chromises, well then.... you're lucky cuss you won't be broke buying fish!!!

well for those that don't think that certain things can be done, here's a picture of half a tiger shark in my 180g tank:

:D  :D gotcha!!!!

hahah ^^ nice josh.

yeah honestly i will prob try it in my 135, thats me if i had a 700, like josh said 30 plus tangs would be my route too. yellow tangs love to be in large schools, i would prob. put 4 or so moorish idols in there so they can school as well.

1 - Your post is irresponsible beacause you are implying that 30 tangs would be okay in a 700g. Also, that if things go wrong it doesn't really matter as it will only result in dead fish

2 - Non factual - "The worst that can happen" is not that the fish dies. There are plenty of stress related fish problems which can have a huge detrimental effect on an enclosed system, ich just being one of them. Also, removing a dead fish when its freely floating is one thing. Removing a dead fish from an unknown cave somewhere in your aquascaping is a completely different matter. If you can't find it then a decomposing fish , again, will cause significant problems. I could "smack" on further but I won't.

3 - Not helpful. Read points 1 and 2

Good luck with your tank.

I'm not pro or con on ether side but I must comment on number 2 on the above post.

I think that means the fish dies. or should he have said" fishes"

I've been in this hobby for a few years now and It wasn't that long ago people said we couldn't keep corals alive in a closed system. I guess I'm glad someone gave it a try.

lets get back to the topic, i do things a different way then you, joch does a different way then us, every one does reefing a different way, having 5 tangs in my 135 i hear it from all ends all the time, but it works, this site is for people to get different views, maybe now he heard josh's statement and he wants to be more on the risky sides and have 20-30 tangs, thats what i would do. or maybe he heard what you said and decided to be more conservative, this hobby is trail and error, it wouldnt be where it is today with out that. lets get on with the topic at hand, once again i say go for it, have 20-30 tangs.
