Sohal Reflection

My new Sohal Tang see's his reflection in the side panel and is obsessed with it and seems convinced there is another Sohal. I have certainly seen other fish do this but nowhere near this extent. He will stay there for hours if the lights are on, eventually I put a towel over that side and he goes back to normal. Just curious if anyone has dealt with this with any fish. Should I just assume he will eventually lose interest, I sure don't want to leave a towel up or have to put a background on that side....Any suggestions?

Well, you could poke his eyes out.

Probably not the best fix though.

Try stacking some rocks up on that side of the tank so he cant see his reflection, or put some sort of decoration over there.

A lot of the times you just have to accept that they will "fight" their reflections if you arent willing to put up a background.

After a year and a half, my PBT will still attack his reflection after I clean the glass. Doesn't seem any worse for wear, though.

He seemed better last night, hopefully he is starting to gradually lose interest, at least not beating up the other fish....Yet.

keep your fingers crossed on the "yet", my old one was out to kill my foxface for no reason. Everyother fish was ok but not the Foxface.

Yeah, I certainly will never try to add a Tang with him, not that a Foxface is a Tang, but if I'm not mistaken they are pretty closely related....Thus far the only fish he has taken an interest in is my Sunset Wrasse (whom was the dominant fish), the Wrasse is a good 2 inchs longer and must outweigh the Sohal at least 4 or 5 times over, yet he wants no part of the smaller Sohal. The Sohal flares his fins up and makes a run at the Wrasse and the Wrasse backs down completely. No doubt already the "Alpha" fish.
