Mine is gorgeous (despite the attitude) and the undisputed Alpha fish in the tank. I try not to keep him with any fish that will challenge him; wussy fish or other Acanthurus tangs. A problem with Sohals is that you just can't predict what fish they will take a dislike to. I had a real problem with the Sohal I had before moving and almost gave up with him, but he settled down and there were some threats, but nothing serious. I had him about 9 years. His tankmates were all big fish that could handle themselves. The one I have now is milder and I have had him 6+ years with nothing but an occasional nip to remind the other fish just who's in charge. I've kept a big harlequin tusk with both and the tusk just ignores him, surprising, tusks are fairly wussy but look tough. If a hobbyist can't stand some occasional squabbles, this is not a good fish; and don't get too attached----I think I've been lucky and imagine he may go postal some time. Like Clown Triggers. When we're gone, my friend and helper is always around and the Sohal's mental status is the one thing he monitors very closely. In the proper tank and proper lighting; they are magnificent. I can't get Blue Zoo's site to open right now, but read what they say about them, well put!
