Sol Blue Owners

Has anybody seen a difference in color from one sol blue to another? I have 2 modules over my tank. With just the blue led's there is a noticeable difference in color between modules. The newer one is more of a teal looking color and the older one is darker blue. You can see the difference on the led's themselves and in the tank coloration. Anybody else experience something like this?

I have noticed leds have a small burn in period wait and see not to mention its possible the splash guard has some stuff on the older one

Never thought of that....thanks guys. How long is the burn in period? One has been running since 9\11. The new one has been running for about a month so far.

I'm using mine as supplemental lighting, my main light source is still halides. I have T5s at the back, halides on center, LEDs up front (tank is 3 feet front to back.)

I have noted that corals toward the back are growing better. Corals on center are growing towards the back. BUT I have my Sols dialed back to under 50% so I'm sure the T5s are kicking out more PAR. I'm very slowly increasing the intensity of my LEDs. We'll see what happens in the future.

Hey Brian. I have also noticed this. I have 5 of them over my lookdown tank and 2 of the units were first generation and the blues look different. Also notable, the newer units have a much higher par.
I thought I was seeing things at first, but then noticed the marking stamped on the back of the light on the newer ones said C2, or something like that. The older units were not run any longer than the newer units, just from a newer batch. So I don't think it has to do with burn in.

I also just thought it had a little to do with differences in manufacturing.

So I should prob replace the older unit to match my other one. The date on the box was 7/2011. I will varify the sn on the unit itself.
