Solana build thread

So down goes the 90 and up goes the 34 gallon solana. Disco ball pendant. Around 20lbs pukani live rock from brs (might be too much). Sand came from previous tank. Tunze 9002 skimmer with custom cup from inTank. Now comes the cycling phase. Not sure of the livestock I'll keep. Any suggestions?

blue spot jaw fish? really amazing fish, hours of fun to watch! They are always busy doing something. Beware that they are know for jumping. Is this Mike's Solana?

Yup. Picked it up from mike last week. Removed a little rock. Waiting for dust to settle so I can get a photo. Still have to hookup my reefkeeper lite so I can cleanup the wires. Anyone have any ideas for an ato reservoir? I'm fine with reefcrystal buckets in the livingroom, but my wife isn't. Also debating switching powerheads to a mp10 es. Otherwise basically done equipment wise. I'm sure I'll find more to do.

Chris, how about a remote site ATO reservoir with a peristaltic pump making a run, like out of a closet into the sump or something like that?

Really looks cool. I love the Solanas. Considered it myself when we weren't sure what we were gonna do, tank-wise.

Can't wait to see it going full bore.

Chris, not to take away from your build, but I just love these tanks. Jeremy's down at ABC is rediculous with the TT's in it, Picasso Clowns, green and orange leptastrias, and what ever that flasher wrasse is. It's nuts! These tanks have such potential! Great call. Glad you're staying in the hobby!

No problem mark. Only issue I have is the small amount of space in the back. I'm used to a large sump. The skimmer is a tight fit. Think I only ended up using 2/3 the 20 lbs of rock I ordered. Going to be doing a lot of research on fish. Had a flasher wrasse in the 90 that must've jumped last night. Definitely one of my favorites. I know my wife will want a "nemo" fish.

So tanks been up and running about 10 days. I'm going to test this weekend. Used sand from my old tank and dry rock from brs. How long should I let it sit without fish? Rkl is running. Awaiting my float switches so I can run an ato.

If you test ammonia nitrites and nitrates and they're all flat you could be good to go. The dry rock has nothing to die off. Its the sand you have to worry about causing the nitrogen cycle. Just have plenty of water on hand for water changes and stock it slowly.

What did you decide for your reservoir?

Parameters all check out so.....stopped at abc and had a chat with jeremy. First fish is decided and paid for. Just have to stop and pick it up after my 4 hours of overtime at work today. Grabbed a male solorensis wrasse.

Still have to make a trip to lowes or hd and look for something decorative for my reservoir.

Thought I'd throw a few more pics up. New wrasse hid a little at first. He quickly gathered the courage to explore. Just need to get some more pics of him. My nassarius have also laid eggs a couple of times. Sorry for the cloudy tank pic. Just haven't taken anymore fts pics lately.

Got my order in from blue zoo today. Thankfully everything survived an extra day in transit due to poor weather in memphis. Pair of true perculas, rbta, blood red fire shrimp, bicolor blenny and an added free 25 cerith snails for ordering more than $99. The clowns promptly made there way to the rbta.
