Solana tank owner thread.

That looks really nice mr86mister.

Anyone have a problem with their water level being high? I noticed after i moved to a new apartment and moved my tank that my water level is maybe 1/4" to 1/2" from the rim and it used to be about 1". The water level in my back chambers is the same...and if I pull my pre-filter sponge out it still stays at that level.

Thoughts? I'd like to put a vortech in at some point and do a little light wave action, but uhh...not at this water level. :P

never mind didn't read the whole post was going to recommend you remove the sponge.... you could also re-aim your returns and see if it has any effect. made a big difference in mine

I actually have pulled the return Y nozzle off, maybe when I do a water change this weekend I'll try and get it back on and see if that affects it.

Help!

Pretty excited to say, that i've joined the club! I ditched the biocube 14, and picked up a solana. I came up with a pretty cool scape if i do say so myself, and transferred tanks tonight.

I'm going to post some pics tomorrow when the tank clears up

Well this is my new Solana. I've been planning on this forever so I hope it fits well in this thread.

Everything is currently stocked components. I have the system on a Reef Keeper Lite. I have a 200w titanium heater, MP40w(alot of flow but has been turned down to about 25%).

I plan on adding an ATO system with a 5 gallon tank in the stand, dosing system for cal/alk/mag. I'm receiving a JBJ 1/10hp Chiller this week to hook up to the system. I am going to replace the stock skimmer with a Tunze9002. This will all pan on over the course of the summer but I will keep updates.

Nice. Be sure to show us the ATO you use.

Yeah no problem JJ. I plan on changing my bulb to something more yellow. I have 3 Current USA Powerbrites that sit on the glass and a fan attached that blows in between the light and glass and keeps it pretty cool.

Well just ordered my Solana W/stand hopefully everything will come in one piece lol . I plan on going with Mh for the lighting 250w radium w/Hqi ballast .

Hello all, It's been a while since I posted anything here. I need help from anyone here. I have had my Solana set up since the beginning of year and things are doing VERY well. The only problem I am having is keeping my kh in appropriate range. My params are:

Calcium - 420
PH - 8.3
Temp - 80
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 0ppm
Phosphates - 0ppm

I can't seem to get my kh above 5 dhk. I have been adding a kh buffer from Kent marine to no avail. I do weekly 15% water changes with RO/DI water and still the kh remains low. Any recommendations on raising it while keeping everything else in acceptable ranges?

Last month... Of course my order has not showed up yet and I have not heard an update! :furious:

well just to let you and anyone else know i emailed nano tuners and they told me hopefully by mid month they will have them.i guess key word there is hopefully.o well ill wait to order.

I'm sure its somewhere in this 47 page thread, but any tips on cleaning the algae and coralline off the black back wall? Those lil bumps are annoying the *BEEP* outta me.

I bought this little scraper from my LFS, really cheap, it's got a yellow handle and this blade part. It works wonders on cleaning algea and coraline off of the glass on my 50g and my solana. I'm sure your LFS has something like it.

What is everyone doing for flow in their solanas? I've currently got the stock pump and the old koralia nano. I was thinking about putting in two modded koralia nano's, or getting one of their new ones to go with my nano. Thanks for any input guys
