OK, so 2 more questions for you Lowredranger. What'd you do with your Y locline and where do you fit your heater? I have mine in chamber 1 next to the skimmer, but it's a tight fit. Do you put yours in the fuge?

It is the Cpr small fuge i think it is like 2.5 gallons or something like that. The medium would have fit but it would have taken up the entire back and i wasnt sure if i would ever want a reactor or something back there.

I am not sure what the y locline is you will have to explain.

I have the heater in chamber 3 with the return pump and pump for fuge. I have all of the sensors. Temp/Ph in the corner on the inside of the tank so the readings are more accurate.

Maybe you will get lucky and I will post some shots of my new starfire solana ;)

Here is a sneak peek, dont mind the micro bubbles that stupid stock skimmer loves to blow them out when new. That will be changed out to the tunze skimmer soon just waiting for LFS to get some in stock.

Has anyone tried to upgrade the 150w bulb to a 250w, of course with corresponding ballast etc...

LFS recommended that the 250W would be overkill. That the tank is shallow enough that 150w should be plenty. I'm no expert, but that's what they had indicated.

What kind of anemone is that on the right ? Its nice!

Just a RBTA for some reason he doesn't bubble anymore.

Here is the most recent pic, the new Flasher wrasse is hiding in the back. I cannot figure out how to get the middle top to not be so washed out I have some sps pieces up there but they never really come out in the pics.

beautiful tank Lowredranger!!!

I have the same problem with pics of mine--maybe someone here can give us some tips.

Mitch--awesome tank. In my experience the bubble tips go away in higher flow. The RBTAs in my Zero Edge, which is pretty low flow, have huge bubbles on them.

Thanks

Well that makes sense about the bubble tips then b/c mine is in high flow as well and has lost some of its bubbly tips.

He has always been in really high flow and kept bubbles, one day he was just long for no reason. My other BTA's in the same tank have bubbles so who knows *shrug*

Okay, my eyes hurt from ‘reading’ the post. I agree, more pix!!!

Okay, I set up my Solana back in March. The plan was to venture into LPS. Results are not so good so far. I had one digitata that did well then my pesky emerald crab knocked it on the sand. It turned white and never recovered. I have since added a couple more just to see what happens. My monti cap showed early signs of success but it has slowed down to nothing over the last month or so. The only thing with any appreciable growth is the Xenia. It’s amazing, when I got out of the hobby a few years back, this was considered a hard coral to keep. Now it seems that most consider it a weed!?

I was beginning to think I should upgrade to a 250 HQI with PC or T5 supplement. Partly because I see so many people succeeding with this type of setup. I also am starting to operate under the assumption, “Corals need more blue light than the 14K stock HQI provides.” So I just ordered the 20K Radium (LFS swears it’s a “crisp white”. Well see how that works out.

All this to say, I want to see my tank take off. I know patience is a virtue.
