After comparing the pictures above to what the tank actually looks like i would say that the pic with the flash is the best representation of the light color. The other 2 pics the camera was pulling out more blue and purple than was actually there.

Well i have a 180g tank sitting in my living room so if i can afford to get it together everything in the Solana will make a transition it may still be 3-6 months.

your tank is looking really great dailydriven911--how old is it now?

Thanks! It will be 1 year old in December. I have re-aquascaped 2x now and sold some corals. I'm adding a vortech mp20 this week and maybe a couple more corals and a few fish but I'm pretty much finished and now I will watch everything grow!

Daily 911 why did you get rid of the towers?

Nice tank! To answer your question I just got bored of them! The new aquascape looks much better imo!

So I accidently dropped my top to my solana and, of course, it went SMAASSSSHHHHH!!! into a million pieces all over my feet and floor. Luckily I didnt get cut at all. Does anyone know if you can replace just the top, or do I need to go to a glass shop>

The glass is sooo thin. TBH, I see the Solana lid as a disaster waiting to happen. What if it fell into my tank and shattered on the live rock?

Get a DIY window screen kit with the transparent screen and build your own lid (there's a thread about it somewhere but i can't find it).

THe screen tops are a good idea but they look kind of tacky in my opinion (not that I dont love the look of the DIY reef tank) and also dont seem like they would help prevent evap at all. Has anyone ever tried a 20" versa top?

I agree the screen tops are not nice looking (unless you are a craftsman, which I am not). Does anyone have a decent alternative to the glass top to keep things in except for the heat

I my opinion unless you put a canopy on the top, the screen is your only option if you want your fish to stay in the tank. If you are not worried about the fish than don't put one on. \Other put egg crate on the top i think that would look more obtrusive.

I am not sure what type of lighting you are running or i guess you keep you air down low in the house my tank got way to hot with the glass top on.

The idea of the rimless tank is so you don't have to have a top on it or some type of canopy, i think they look a ton better without the screen top if you kept coral only or fish you were not worried about.
