comes with glass lid

Can the glass lid be used with the Nova Extreme Pro 6x18watt T5 fuxture that mounts on the glass ?

I know it fits on there with it, but good luck getting to anything while the light and lid is on. you cant refill the ato bottles, raise the skimmer cup, change filter pad. nothing...

I have a new Solana 34gal and I have figured out that there is a bit of an evaporation issue:) I have to refill the little bottles that came with the tank just about everyday and that's getting old pretty fast. I was hoping some of you here could give me some advice, ideas, or solutions to the evaporation problem? I am really new to reef aquariums so, any help would be great.

Do a search for ATO and Solana, you'll find lots of people discussing the ATO (Auto Top Off) units and the Solana setups.

Sorry if this has been discussed. I haven't been keeping up with this thread lately.

Is anyone using a new Euro-Reef Nano skimmer on their Solana?

Do they fit? How do they work? etc...

Thanks,

No, but I just purchased the new Sapphire Aquatics Skimmer for the Solana, it was made specifically for the Solana.

Go check out the skimmers on Sapphire Aquatics web page or their store I mean, its in there. $129.99, and from what I've heard its very quiet and fits awesome in chamber 1. Mine is on the way to me, so I can't give you a review...but these people can...

Do you have to mod this skimmer or can it just fit right in place of the stock one?

No MODS! Its made for the Solana, it even comes with a riser piece that keeps it the right height for chamber 1.

This link doesn't show anything when I click it. Just shows the header for the website but no page content.

Odd I clicked it and its fine...

Do a search in Google for Solana Sapphire, or just go to www.sapphireaquatics.com and look for the skimmer in their store.

www.reefbuilders.com just had an article and review.

Must have something to do with Firefox, it loads in Explorer. Yeah I have checked it out on their site, just wanted to read some independent reviews. I will be replacing my skimmer and like this one a little better than the Tunze just want to make sure it is going to works as well,

There were a few people over on nano reef dot com who had great reviews on it, said it was quiet, and fit nicely in the Solana, and did a good job overall. No mods, and quiet were important to me!

My Solana: I am also doing an "experiment" with this tank. Everything in it is either aquacultured, tank raised, or from someone else's tank. I used Southdown Sand and I used Worm Rock for my live rock, which supposedly was underwater thousands of years ago, but is now mined out of the ground. Began my cycle with a piece of frozen fish (from my freezer) and went from there. After the cycle was completed, I added 2 damsels to make sure everything was fine. Things seem to be doing well, I have since switched the damsels to two tank raised clowns, and added a couple frags. Any feedback/advice would be appreciated. Anyway, on to the pics:

Tunze 9002 with custom cup and Custom Vortech box

Last chamber with heater and Tunze Osmolator

Sorry for the cloudy water, I just scraped and fed. I ended up feeding WAY too much because I wanted to see the current that the Vortech generated. I know there is a "feed" mode on the Vortech, I just chose not to use it this time so I could watch the food float in my tank. I know I'm strange, my wife tells me that all the time.

Modifications that I have done:
1. Replaced stock skimmer with Tunze 9002 with custom collection cup from InTank
2. Replaced stock return with Maxijet 900 to slow flow down
3. Added Vortech mp20
4. Removed stock locline returns.
5. Replaced stock ATO with Tunze Osmolator
6. Have cheato in 2nd chamber with fluorescent light velcroed to back of tank (no pic of that)

Thats all I can think of for now, thanks for looking and all the advice. Again, any feedback and/or advice would be appreciated.

How many of you are using the stock stand? Any reason not to do it?

The stock stand works fine but if you are going to keep your top off water under the stand add an extra leg in the middle (4x4 worked for me).
Also when I had the Vortech MP40 going in full wave mode it would shake the stand, tank and the light back and forth:) So, I turned it down for fear of the stand breaking.

Just placed an order with my LFS for a new solana with the NEP 6x18watt T5 fixture...

Will pick it up this weekend and set it up by monday or tuesday...

ive been running my solana for over a week now and i can't seem to get rid of the micro bubbles. im using a tunze 9002 skimmer and stock return. i also have some filter floss in the 2nd chamber.

what did u guys do to get rid of it?

I think as your tank ages the bubbles will go away. Or you can try a piece of filter media in chamber two. I had the same issue.

Ron

i had that issue for about a month. they went away after a long while. you do need to keep your water levels precise as well for those like me, who do not have an auto tttop off yet
