Solar Flare Angel

What don't you get?

It is an extremely rare color variant of C. loriculus, missing almost all of the black pigmentation. Many people will like regular flame angels more, but for someone who is looking for a truly one of a kind specimen with a very neat story behind it, this is a perfect fish.

Love this fish, thought it would sale faster though. Such a cool unique fish for someone with a little deeper pockets than me.

I think it's neat, just like I think that tri-color scopas are cool. Yea, there are prettier fish out there but how many people have seen these variants in person much less owned one? It's unique.

I understand that beauty is in the eye of the holder, I suppose I wouldn't pay for rarity unless I also loved the fish.

I would rather buy a standard flame for 70 than a solar flare even it were only 20.

I don't begrudge those who would pay 2k for this fish.

Threads discussing price of fish are SO boring.... hopefully we discuss something else about the fish here....

I think we need to cut and paste copps' signature in the thread and be done with it.

I like it, just don't want to risk a third angel and my joculator is a bit of a bully.

.lol, Michael had one at nya last month...

Spectacular specimen. I wonder if anyone here bought it so that we may see some pictures in its new home.

I have a friend that got one. The problem is that the color do come back

Personally i think a interrapta looks 100x better or even a joculator

I bought the fish and it is Hypomelanistic, which is the genetic absence of black pigmentation, so it's coloration has been the same since birth and will remain that way until its death (which hopefully is many, many years in the future). Pigmentation isn't something that "comes back" in animals that genetically lack it, this only occurs in specimens who's colors are aberrations as the normal pigmentation levels and coloration traits are still in the animal's genetic makeup, but for many different reasons, the typical coloration patterns and pigmentation characteristics are recessive for a period of time but eventually do appear at some point during the life cycle. This is not the case with Hypomelanistic specimens as there is a complete absence of pigmentation, the coloration may not remain in its current state, but it definitely won't revert back to anything resembling typical for a Flame Angel. Personally I find this extremely intriguing and am excited to see the direction the coloration heads and it's one of the many reasons I purchased the fish.
