Here is the results im getting with my solaris lights, they sit about 6in off the top of the tank. I have cleaned the lens so that they give out the best possible reading. This first 1 1/2" on the tape measure is the rim.

Not sure if the pics will show up good, so here is the results.

Pic 1 "Par 003.jpg" is at top of the water. 698 on par meter.
Pic 2 "Par 004.jpg" is 6" deep 250 on par meter.
Pic 3 "Par 008.jpg" is 12" deep 189 on par meter.
Pic 4 "Par 012.jpg" is 19" deep and 115 on par meter.
Pic 5 "Par 015.jpg" is 27" deep and 108 on par meter.

After I replace the led's with the newer i will borrow the meter again and post the results. I expect the par to more then double with the new led's

Yea i think so, from what i can tell, the k2 that are in the solaris lights are 100lm at 1000ma (the whites). The Cree's I am thinking about getting are XM-L and they are 280lm at 700ma.

Yeah, man... those XM-Ls are expensive, but they are CRAZY efficient. Even the XP-Gs would be a great improvement over the K2s. And its only going to get better from here, huh? :)
