Solaris Led lighting systems

Since we try to give the best customer service we possibly can, we have decided to change our policy on warranty being with the unit rather than with the original purchaser. The unit will have a two year warranty from the date of shipment from PFO Lighting. This warranty of course is retroactive to all our Solaris units.

Wow. Did I have anything to do with this? I've been harping on it long enough.

Pat, it's the RIGHT thing to do... I'm glad you made the change.

Just wanted to let everyone know that a store near me has put up a 60" G series on their soft coral tank and it looks really good. The store also has a zero edge aquarium with a 14" G series on it. Both tank look great and the corals seem to really enjoy the light. The zero edge has acros and clams in it that are going really well also.

I'm planning on getting 4 of the 60" H series on my new SPS dominated reef tank and can't wait to see the results.

Very nice.

It doesn't really matter to me, I don't plan on selling my 400w solaris unit that I have already preordered, and I eagerly await its arrival. :D but it's nice to see that policy changed for G users how want to step up to the H.

PFO Lighting, Pat,

Thank you for clearing that up about the warranty. I wanted to make a statement about a sale of a 250W person to person that you extended warranty coverage to the new owner. But, I didn't want to be setting Company policy for you even though we had talked about it awhile back. Good move.

Pat,
Kudos to you. From a customer point of view, that's extremely helpful, and the flexibility you've shown in your policies shows the quality of your company.

Hi Larry,

The latest word, as you already know, is they are in stock. PFO is going through the process of opening them and testing each one. Shipping should start next week.

I can hardly contain my enthusiasm for this new 400W LED fixture.

Dick

yeah, I really love the part about them testing each one. I just didn't know if I should post that info or let you or pat post it. ;)

I can't wait to sit it on top of my 120!

I would love to see a real side by side comparison of the aquaillumination fixture and the PFO H4 - I am in the market for a 72 inch - the AI folks do not have the market advantage that PFO has so I asked them what their return policy is - 14 days less shipping - The LED ratings are very different - does anyone know if Sanjay (some unbiased testing) plans on diving into these LED systems now that there are 2 manufacturers out there? - I realize that the H4 and the AI system are just now being released - to state the obvious, if cost wasn't an issue, there would be a lot more of these out there for some user feedback - for me it is between the Solaris H4 and the AI system - My hot buttons are total light output (correct light output) since I have many SPS, Build Quality/reliability, customer support, upgradability and longevity - BTW I keep hearing that the AI units are build in USA - I am not sure that is true - is there a statement on the AI website confirming this?

Chris

Chris,

A side by side comparison would be interesting and will someday happen I'm sure. It won't be for awhile though as the AI unit isn't due out until later this summer, I think. I, too, heard they are built in the US but, there is no mention of that on their web site that I can find.

I'm a little suspect of their light out put comparison to the Solaris H4 400W unit. If I remember correctly they came out comparably with 250W MHs and claim to beat the 400W Solaris. My weakest knowledge base is in understanding light out put but that doesn't make sense to me. An unbiased comparison will seperate fact from fiction for sure.

PFO informed me, my 400W unit is on it's way and in tracking the shipment UPS tells me the delivery date is Friday the 25th. I can hardly contain my enthusiasm. Watch this thread for pics.

sweet...... :D

Who has the best price so far - on the Solaris H4? I know the AI price for a 72" is around $3300 - what about a 72 inch H4 - BTW here is the website for the LEDs used by AI -

http://www.led-professional.com/content/view/441/56/

They are the brightest LEDs out there - the reflector is also top quality for spead and intensity - but as you can see on this site - Seoul is going to release a new LED with almost 2x the intensity of the P4 that is used by AI by 1Q2008 - this is like the PC industry where we can expect major change to the raw hardware materials on a 12 month or less cycle -- does upgradeability now play into our decision making? Not to confuse this issue even more..

My 400w Solaris is scheduled to be delivered today. :D :D :D

Unboxing will happen later this evening as it is my wifes birthday, I will have full pics of the unboxing as well.

Oh, yeah, that's GREAT! Give your WIFE lights for the tank for her birthday!

Let us know your first impressions!

BTW, the aquaillumination home page says "Made in USA".
