Solaris lights

The shimmer is there, I would say a bit less then MH. I would like wider modules of lights for future implementations on the lights to avoid the gaps at the surface and rear. I plan to put table tops in the tank so they can just grow towords the modules. They are guaranteed for 50,000 hours to be above 75% of a new light. So as long as PFO is in business I would likely get a new light. The real cool thing is the ability to change the spectrum at will by dimming the blue or white LED's. I am still playing around with programming on it, and should also play with the LUX meter at varying spectrums. Finally I can move my rock and corals in to the tank and do a final aquascape.

Not sure if you can tell Scott but the foam shrunk a bit and pulled from the sides about 1-2 inches. Did you have this issue?

The corals seem happy, in fact I moved a "wild" superman monti that turned white under MH lights and it is already coloring up after 1 day in the tank. I was super impressed and happy to see that.

Do you mean that the foam pulled 1-2 inches away from the glass surface it was sprayed on? If so, yes, I had this problem in very small areas. I pressed the foam back against the wall when it was still semi-wet and it stuck to the glass.

It stayed stuck on the back, but shrunk inwards from the sides. So there is a 1-2 inch gap from the side panel to the foam on the backing. It seems to still be adhered to the back glass but I would not want to risk moving all the live rock off it......... I am sure it could be siliconed down if if came up off the back but I don't want to try it..

So over all do you think they are worth all the money? Cuz after i move ill have my 29gal lee mar tank settup. And been thinking about 4 24watt T-5s or one of the Solaris lights.

I will say they are worth the money, and the worth is greater on a smaller tank. There is no heat transfer to the water with these. It's something you have to see in person.

awsome! Yea it would be on a seahorse tank lol. But the softies would dig it. maybe ill stop by this weekend. I have not been to your store for like 3 to 4 months anyway.

Looks great - I can't believe I missed them by one day! I'll try to get by this weekend to check it out. Can't wait to see it fully stocked!

Still haven't gotten that sailfin out yet? You now have photographic evidence of him chasing your lemon peel!

Folks you have to see this light set-up in person. I got home and started talking to Nannita about it, I think we are gonna get the 60" for our new 110. Rob ran it thru the tricks, its amazeing. Thats why I stay out of Fish Stores, always new toys.

I went in and checked it out. I cannot believe how awesome that light is! I think that it is so cool that you can set it up to make it look like a cloud is passing over! I can't wait to see long term results with this light.

I have a few Pics of corals, too time consuming uploading em all right now. Will have more later.

The first forgspawn is at full light, the second is only with blue LED's.

Rob, what is the listed watts used of the unit you have and what would the 60" unit use to run every thing?

I am not seeing that info anywhere. I am going to talk to PFO tomorrow to figure out what they plan to do with this broken unit. I will ask about KWH consumptioon then. Sorry about the ginormous pics, gonna have to resize them.

Rob

Man, I really wanted to come by and see those lights today. I will have to stop in on monday and check them out.

I got to see the light over the weekend and all I have to say is WOW! I like how the spectrum can be changed. Very cool unit...

I think each LED is 5W so multiply that by the number of LED's and fans should give a pretty good estimate of power usage. I think they were 5x5 so 125W per panel x 5 = 625W. could be wrong but I think thats the same LED I looked at on the net.

The site lists a 60" at 375watt, useing 3 power supplies. If you compare to 2x250MH that is a savings. Sounds like 125 per bank/power supply
