Solenoid for Auto-topoff

What kind of solenoid valves are good for the group buy auto-topoffs? I tried using a refrigerator solenoid with the top off system I got with the group buy a few months back. It did not last long, I am thinking that the salt water was a problem for it.

I would also like to know a source that can do one day delivery.

I checked on the web but found so many and I am not sure how to determine which will work well.

Thanks

There aren't many that don't have copper or even stainless steel inside them. They are fine for supplying water BEFORE the RO system since it will remove any minerals leached into the water but in a saltwater environment you will not have much luck with a solenoid type top off. Were you just using gravity to supply the RO to the sump through a solenoid? Most people use the ATO unit to power a pump that will top off the sump and then shut off. If you go that route be sure that the outlet of your tubing is higher than the water level in your top off supply reservoir or you will create a siphon and it will over fill your sump.

McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) is where most people get the solenoids that have all plastic wet parts. Try asking in the DIY section of reefcentral. It is a common concern for people wanting to do auto shut off for their RO systems.
