solid state transformers

Heard from a member of our reef club that streams with a solid state transformer are due on the market. Since I am almost ready to purchase a couple of 6100's I have to ask about the new transformers.

What advantages will the solid state transformers have over the current models? When are they due out? Will we be able to swap out our current transformers for solid states transformers or are they incompatible with the current streams?

I don't know that there is an advantage other than being lighter and being able to buy one at any electronics store if you have a problem, I think the current one is probably more durable. They won't be out though until at least midsummer. The new transformer will not be comatible with the old pumps but a later adapter may make it possible.
