Some advice - blue hippo tang and Ich? I think

I just moved my 46 gallon bow reef tank and its inhabitants to a 90 gallon with center drilled overflow. Prior to move My Blue Tang was a great specimen. Full, great color, eating healthy etc. Moved tanks last Friday evening. All went well and corals inverts fish all survived. When I Came home from work today my hippo tang was full of white spots I suspect Ich. I never had Ich in my previous tank and I have had my tang over two years. Have not introduced any new specimens either. I used 40 gallons of my old water and 60 gallons of new salt water. Did not move any of my old sand/gravel- I have heard horror stories. I used 50lbs of live sand. I know tangs as a species are susceptible to Ich. Am I just to assume the stress of the move has opened the door for this nasty infection? This ever happen to anyone else out there. Oh water parameters are good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Can you post a picture? Also, was this fish quarantined prior to introduction to the DT? Stress does not cause Cryptocaryon, although it can elicit an outbreak.

I moved a few years ago and had a full blown crypto attack. Before that, all of the fish had been healthy for over a year. I'm sorry you are going through it. It will get better. Good luck!

Assuming it is ich, and that nothing new was added to the tank, then you must actually have had ich in your tank all along, it was just asymptomatic. I have never heard of live sand carrying ich, but I guess its possible - and a further reason not to use it :(

Thank you

Thank you

Thanks to all who replied to my post. The fish In my tank have been together for almost 2 years without any issues. The suggestion that the Ich was asymptomatic seems to be the answer. From what I understand Ich can be present in the tank but not an issue. I believe the move had everything to do with my tangs outbreak. I realize stress did not cause the Ich but allowed it to "come to the surface". For now my tang seems to be content and eating. I'm going to monitor and continue with the garlic dosing and hopefully he will fight this off. I do not have the option of a QT tank at this time.
