Some clam problems

Hello all,

I picked up these two clams at an LFS over the weekend. Can anyone ID them for me? They were both sold as croceas but I think the one on the left may be a derasa. The picture was taken at the LFS.

When I got home, the one on the left had something fleshy in the bag with it. I thought it might be it's foot. However, it has attached to a rock since introduction saturday. My problem is that my mimic tang will not leave this clam alone. I dont know if he is going after the flesh itself or algae on the rim of the shell. He seems to be leaving the clam on the right alone. If I need to (re)move this clam, how can I do it now that it is attached?

Here are some pictures of the "problem clam". I dont have much experience with clams and I need to know wether or not this is normal and he will open up after a week or so, or if he looks bad and has to be moved/removed. If any fish swims near him he closes up. Sometimes the tang nips his shell or rim.

And here are some pictures of the other clam. Does he look okay? It looks like I epoxied him, but I actually just made a ridge to hold him in place (he's not attached to the epoxy).

The first one is a derasa and the second looks like it could be a squamosa. If it is a squamosa it is very sweet and uncommon coloration.

Give the derasa a week and see how it does. Also check the base for predictors like pyramid snails.

the left one is a Derasa, the right Maxima. what fish do you have? just from the pics you posted i can see a few fish that are known nippers. if they keep nipping on the Derasa they willl kill it

So it is agreed that the orange one is Derasa. They like the sandbed, correct? Should I try to move him?

My potential nippers are a majestic angel, scribbled rabbitfish, and mimic lemonpeel tang. I have only seen the tang pick on this guy. I have been keeping nori in the tank to try to distract these guys and keep them full. I am thinking the tang must just be going after algae on the shell and slime... tangs aren't supposed to be clam nippers, right?

no offence but if you already knew you had potential nippers, why would you get a clam?

First of all, all the potential nippers have been fine with all sorts of corals. Secondly, I have had a clam in the past. He was happy for a few months, but fell off the rocks when I was on vacation. He got stuck upside down on the sandbed and died. I got him in a trade, and I had a fishless frag tank set up (with halides) in case he was picked on. Here is a picture of my old clam:
