Some Flow Advice please

So I have a 30 Gal tank with a SEIO 820. I had it set up with the full cover on and directional nozzel. If you have seen a SEIO then you know what I mean . So anyways for a change I just took it appart and changed the config so it is just the PH unit. It seems alot stronger flow. My shrimp look like they are sky diving from the current.

Is there such a thing as too much flow.?

Here is my new set up

I dont have any close ups of the before but you can kinda see it from this pic

Thats probably not good for the impeller not to be centered. Is it making much noise? I bet the impeller is spinning around grinding the chamber and eventually you'll end up with a cracked impeller.

I'm pretty sure it says in the manual you can run it this way as an option.. Anybody know. There is a pic on there box with it just like I have it

You can run it like that (thats how I run mine), but you need to have the centering piece and the screw. Like this:

This keeps the impeller centered and secure.

As long as the water stays in the tank you can't have to much flow. Just think about how much flow there is on a reef.

ahhhhhh is that centering peice extra. I dont think I have one

You should have one, its what the directional nozzle attaches to (not the big shroud, but actually nozzle)

I amaze myself that I can get out of bed everyday.. That peice just detaches from the elbow. I can slide it right on. I know just enought to be very dangersous.

Thanks for the help

Yep, use the screw and the centering piece and you should be good.

FWIW, I tried taking out the 3 pieces on the centering piece that aren't attached to anything.. NOT A GOOD IDEA. It really disperses the flow to the side and there isn't really any decent flow 12" away anymore.
