Some help with bryopsis

My tank is pretty infested with bryopsis, and in a few spots large clusters of bubble algae. Obviously I have a nutrient problem. I dont overfeed, but a few months ago I broke my skimmer and havent had the $$$ for a new one. My bioload is very very low. I have tried the "miracle cure" and raised my mg to about 1550 for months now. Still no end. Any suggestions other than water changes?

In my experience even under ultra low nutrient conditions the best you can hope for is that it stops growing. High Mg helps, you might want to push it higher to 1650 or so. If you figure out how to beat it, let us know.

steve i have a skimmer you can borrow
of course depending on the size of your tank
i dont live to far from you
probably 2 hours
i could meet you in hillsboro after 1030pm to save you some time

Tech M is the supplement I have been using to boost my mag. I just added a bunch more last night. Im testing again soon. BTW my salifert test kit only measures to 1500, so my results are guesstimates. I figure that every ml of reagent 3 added equals about 150ppm extra. So I just refill the syringe and keep going.

A couple of Lettuce Nudibranchs cured mine in a matter of days. Just make sure you have someone you can pass them on to or they will starve once its gone.

I just fear death by powerhead/overflow. I guess im paranoid. I checked my Mg just now, and im up to about 1750-1800. I added more Tech M and will test again tomorrow. Im shooting for 2000 as mentioned above. Its to the point where my zoas are getting choked out so what do I really have to lose....

i've ran the gamet, sea hares, changed bulbs, mag to 2000 water changes, lawnmower blenny, phosphate remover, gfo. everything suggested by everyone. Cook your rock, i'm my opinion it's the only thing that worked for me. You need to get rid of the phosphates trapped in the rock and get your rock to move to a bacteria driven filter , rather than an algea driven filter

How old are your lights? I've noticed bryprosis shows up when my T5's are too old. That is usually 12 - 18 months. Once I change the lights, the problem goes away.

Ultra Low Nutrient System :)

I have beat it with an army of tangs. If they can't get to it though you are screwed with that method. I had some come in on a colony I bought and had to pull the colony and tear it off and the tangs got the rest once it was pruned way back.

Bryopsis will grow in ULNS, only cure I have heard of is Tech M
I have never found this to be the case.

Mag increases may or may not help.

If you truly want to rid yourself of bryopsis, "cook" your rock.
