some hypo questions

I have a 5-6" yellow tang, 5" hippo tang, 5" russells lionfish, and a 18" zebra eel. Can I put them all in in the same tank to treat for ich? The tank I want to use is 65g, 48x18x18". Also should only fill the tank up 12" with water that is 1.025 add the fish and then slowly over 2 days add ro/di water to fill up the remaining 6"? That should get close to 1.009 from what I have read.

You really need to by exactly on 1.009. Use a refractometer to measure. Slowly lower the salinity over a couple of days to reduce stress and allow the fish to adjust.

i will use a refractometer. I have read that if you have 2/3 of your normal sw and add 1/3 ro/di water that it gets really close to the 1.009. i would test and adjust as needed. So would I be ok doing it the way I described or not? And is the size tank ok or should I seperate the fish?

I'm not sure about the eel as I've never had them, but the others should do fine together. There's always a chance the tangs won't like each other, but you won't know until you try. I think it would be fine to add the water the way you describe so long as while it is low you can still circulate the water and run some sort of filtration and you lower the SG over a period of at least 48 hours in several increments.

This cannot be right. The math don't add up.
