Awesome shots! The first one is my favorite by far!! it's just totally awesome
How did you get such a close up shot of the moon? I tried a moon shot for the first time last night with my 300+1.4 and my 100% crop is about the same distance as your moon (did you use a 2x TC?)

What are you doing up a 1 AM, get a job ya bum!
Just kidding, those pictures look awesome, especially the zoomed in moon picture! You need to bring the camera over to my place and get some good pictures for me.

i didnt use any digital zooming or enlarging on photoshop. thats just a standard 800x600 cut out of the original 3888x2592 RAW image.
i like the first one also, that was one of my early attempts when i didnt know what i was doing and had the shutter open waaaaaaay too long. that pic was purely by accident.
for some reason, the moon looked bigger last night than the previous night, so i guess i just got lucky. that 2nd pic is much better than the previous attempts i've made at the exact same settings.....go figure.
thanks for the comments everyone!

Wow that's odd - on my 30d @ 420mm I get the same size moon as you. I need a 400 and a 2x

nope, no TC's or ET's. what lens are you using at 420mm?
