Interestingly,Nutrient levels in the softie tank are just ok ( PO4.06 to .1, NO3 around 15ppm) . Lighting is with 4 t5 bulbs plus a reef brite led, yet there is almost no nuisance algae or cyano. I use only a canister filter without mechanical filtration, just bagged regenerated gfo and rox 8 carbon changed monthly. WAter changes are infrequent( 15% every two weeks)
Maybe , the Capnella ( kenya tree) is sucking them up . I wonder if a kenya tree refugium would work as a nutrient sink in a refugium set up.
That coral doesn't need a lot of light ,probably less than some macroalgaes.
