Interestingly,Nutrient levels in the softie tank are just ok ( PO4.06 to .1, NO3 around 15ppm) . Lighting is with 4 t5 bulbs plus a reef brite led, yet there is almost no nuisance algae or cyano. I use only a canister filter without mechanical filtration, just bagged regenerated gfo and rox 8 carbon changed monthly. WAter changes are infrequent( 15% every two weeks)
Maybe , the Capnella ( kenya tree) is sucking them up . I wonder if a kenya tree refugium would work as a nutrient sink in a refugium set up.
That coral doesn't need a lot of light ,probably less than some macroalgaes.

Anyone ever tried it?

That would be interesting!

I can see a kenya and chaeto filled refugium in my future if that worked.

looking good as always Tom! I love your system, one of the finest I have ever seen.

if you feel like it, try setting that camera on a tripod or a stack of something, and use the self timer (page 32 of the manual). when taking pictures the movement of pressing the shutter button can cause a slight blur. this will let you set up the picture, press the button and step back. 10 seconds later it will take the picture for you with no hand input.

make sure to force the flash off (page 29 and 30 of the manual)

if the picture looks a little washed out turn down the exposure (page 34 of the manual). if you over do it the picture will get dark. the goal is not to have anything washed out white.
