Hi all,

Could you give some positive IDs (common names) of these zoas? They were given to me by friends, and most of them started at 2-4 polyps.

Here are some pics:

Zoa # 1 and # 2

#3 This one is actually yellow/golden in daylight and in white LEDs

I am not keen on giving them fancy names, but I guess common names are needed, especially when I have to trade them for other frags.

Inputs are appreciated. Thanks!

*crap, I think I should've posted at the zoa ID subforum.

Heh, hard to give common names to all. Most are just made up by region from what I've seen. I know I'm not much help here, but hey you can call them anything you like if it helps them sell better :)

@Handil True, I usually call them zoa or paly with X color or Y pattern. I don't sell them though, I usually donate them to other local club members or swap them for other frags.

@jvdub20 Thanks! I think I found some positive IDs. Good god, look at all the naaaames!

Ya it can get pretty confusing. At least now you have some idea of what one possible name for them is lol.

Check out coralpedia. They have a pretty extensive id section with pics you can match yours to.

Very cool hadn't seem this before. However, it furthers my point. Out of the 13 or so types of zoa I have, only one was bought under the name in that library haha. But again, they're fun to name.

Pare' all those Z's and P's are named in coralpedia. Just click on the picture of the polyp that resembles yours, once you click on it more pictures will show more pictures of the same polyps under different lighting and looks or morphs.

@650 yup, thanks! It's really funny how one zoa changes names with almost just a slight difference in a shade of color or pattern.

BTW, you from the Ph as well? :)

#7 sour apple
#8 ko nightmare If white mouth or orange envy
#10 gorilla nipples
#14 wammin watermelon if green skirt or eagle eye's if yellow skirt

Radioactive green has yellow tentacles not green. I would have to agree with coralsfriend sour apple green for #7.
Here is picture of Radioactive green zoa.
