Thanks mate, the open space is kind of a necessity as some of these corals expand tremendously! The butterflies are fine, not territorial and aggressive toward each other. The Pearlscale and Copperband school together most often. I feed the lots and often so they stay nice and fat and full, they rarely pick on corals, and when they do, it's usually to get the food out of my elegance's mouths. They don't cause any harm to any of the inverts, with the exception of aiptasia
Yeah, sorry about the coralline, I'm too cheap toget a real algae scraper!The tank is 48"Lx26"Wx24"H. No sump, no skimmer, no reactor. The whole tank is powered by 4xMJ600 and 1xMJ900

GoTakuF1, I really think your success with Goniopora has alot to do with having no skimmer. I think they come from areas with "dirty" water and most hobby tanks are just too clean for them. I would love to see results for all the things you do not test for, it might make the mystery of Goniopora a little clearer.
Also, not sure if you know, but I believe Bornman's theory on Elegance is that most of the suppliers tanks gat a disease which kills them in short order.

No skimmer, lots of food, proper flow, lots of food, large refugium focused on micro fauna and oh yeah, did I mention, lots of food? One day, when I get around to it, perhaps I'll test the water but to me, the goniopora mystery is what plagues a lot of reef tanks in general. Being "too clean" and not having enough food are two different things. Most tanks are not only starve of nutrients but starve of proper sized foods for goniopora.
I've read his study and it doesn't explain why there are several in my area that were obtained the same way as these "diseased" specimens but are thriving.
