some of my rics...

have you done this before? can you elaborate a little more on "one motion" please? Is it best to make the slices where the ric seems to be curling up a little? Or can it be done wherever and whenever? You don't cut through the mouth, do you? Thanks :)

By one motion, he means make one cut, straight through the ric. The easiest way is to cut straight through the middle (through the mouth) or if your ric has multiple mouths, cut in between the mouths so each section has its own mouth.

Thanks for the clarification ;)

Does it matter when you do this?

You can do it whenever. I've done it to rics that I just bought, right before I put them into my tank for the first time, but preferably (and since it's your first time) you can try it on a healthy ric that has some size to it and that's been in your tank for awhile. For some reason, I think the green ones are the easiest, least risk, but that's just my opinion. This advice is just based on my experience and goes for floridias. Yumas are a lot more finicky. If you have some regular discosomas, I would practice on them first or you can always keep your hands to yourself and watch them grow! Good luck :)

i would wait till you have at least two polyps of each by splitting on their own. if they get a bacterial infection while you cut them, they are gone. rics are more resilient then yumas but not indestructible in my experience. great set of rics you got there.

Ive Always though rics were pretty but never owned one untill 2 weeks ago. Now Im hooked. Since then Ive purchased 3 more with multiple mouths.
