some of pics of the garden

Yep, be ready to feed him well. They eat a lot when they become adults! LOL!
I had my dog when I used to live in a house 20+ years ago with a huge back yard!! Now I can't anymore!! Make sure you help him with calcium for the joints, not kalk though!! LOL!

Please let us know the schedule for your reactor.
Do you add kalk only at night?
Or with an ATO?
How often do you add/ change the powder?
How often you clean the pump? Vinegar?
Any other info will be appreciated.

Nice fish room/tank!

Grandis.
On the Dane, I know, this is my third lol.
Mine is on raw diet, 18 weeks, 70 pounds, daddy is 195# and still growing! mom is German and 175#, this one will be a monster :spin2:

Kalk, 24 hrs, on tunze osmolator, keeps my ph rock solid, no alk swings. Mixing pump on apex twice a day. Little to no maintenance.
Powder is replaced and sludge dumped twice a month.
Pump is on vinegar bath once per quarter, I have only replaced impeller twice in 4 years.
Any other questions, let me know.

Fish room is my garage :), I put ac and dehumidifier on it as well so my chiller only fires on really hot days (which are common in FL)
System is also hooked to a whole house diesel generator with auto transfer switch and I keep 200g of diesel at the farm at all times. Hurricanes and storms are a big deal here.
Other than 150 g natural sea water twice a month, just heavy feeding for my fish (about 30 of them, 15 are anthias)
I know you don't believe in gfo but I do run 24/7 on small quantities, along with carbon and bio pellets. No algae whatsoever, and zero across the line ( that's why heavy feelings for the zoas/LPS and lots of fish).

Thanks

Sal

I miss my dog!

Thanks for the info! I aways wonder how those Geo work because of the pump.
Not too bad! That is great!!

Do you collect your water from shore?
Filter the sea water before use?

It's not that I don't believe in GFO. They must work, basically binding phosphates, when well applied.
Yep, the GFO will help you with the heavy feeding, as aways.
Specially because of the anthias eating probably many times a day!!
Small quantities is the way to go, when you need it!

Yup, for the money you can't beat a geo reactor. Very reliable and cost effective.
I get my water delivered to me by an county authorized service company. Uv/carbon treated 24 hrs before and 100 micron filtered before going into my system. I don't feel like hauling 300-500g per month on my truck, plus I pay only 100 x visit so is cost effective. It also saves the membranes on my rodi. I live on a 30 acre farm and no city water.

Heavy multiple feelings are a necessity with anthias, i am very fond of mine so I spoil them very much, I also mix my own food so it's heavier than commercial. I have some very large tangs as well plus triggers and very large wrasses plus 4 pairs of clowns and multiple hog, blennies, etc. bio load is not high for the water volume but they eat, having zero or close to zero nitrates and phosphates allows me to spoil on the food. Acans, rodactis, blastos are heavy feeders are well, I only have a few sps and and buttload of zoas so I have a luxury of over feeding a bit. Gfo plays a major part on my maintenance schedule, as well as bio pellets and water changes and skimming. With my volume of water if parameters get out of whack it's difficult to get them back online. Been there, done that. I travel often and I don't stress over the tank......much.

I filter my water also with a 100 micron bag when I get seawater.
Most of the time I use Reef Crystals.

That's a good example of a system that really needs GFO, besides the skimmer, water changes, etc... We see the real need there!
To keep so many anthias healthy it is a must to feed them very well!!

Great system!
Congratulations and thanks again for sharing!

Soon those zoas will be large colonies... :bounce1:

Thank you. Some of the colonies are already over 200 polips, I hope everything else will reach that size with time
