My hood was only about 8 inches off the water aand it gave me little room to work. i was always pulling it off to work on my tank.. it became a PIA. with my new lights i decided to lift the canopy higher up. I chose to use the same top portion of the canopy and just retrofit new sides onto it to give it more height. it now sits about 13 inches off the water or so and gives me a lot more space. here are some pics. my brother did most of it, i was just an over the back helper when he needed a tool lol
here is the old top with new sides:
we designed it to open from the front, also the top is vented and the back is open so its stays nice and cool.

a navy sub that snuck up on us while out "collecting" off of ft lauderdale on saturday. glad we had our fishing licenses
