Some pics of my Part 1

Hey guys, just wanted to share some pics I took of this awesome rock I got from Richard. I'm truly amazed at the diversity of life on the rocks and in the sand. I made no attempt at rockscaping, since I'd probably have to redo it when part 3 gets here anyway. Thanks Richard! (Oh and BTW, the Xenia in the first shot did not come with the package.)

Its a terrible shot, but this is a little mantis shrimp about 1" long that I banished to my as-yet-unlit sump.

Nice stuff! Every time I see new rock, it makes me want to upgrade so I can buy more. Just wait till you get the next part.

Yeah, I got initiated to the "part II" shipment when I built my 14 gallon back in December - that was some pretty lively stuff.

I resized these pics because they were way too big, and I think the additional JPEG compression sort of mutes the colors visible in the original pic - I was expecting some base rock with little color, and this stuff is very vibrant.

Richard's sending part 2 tomorrow, so I'm excited to see how it call comes together!

My First Shipment! Arrived May 11, 2010

Here are some pictures of our shipment of "The Package" I don't have my macro lens, once I get it back, I'll take some closer shots.

After (Inspecting the tank trying to find hitchhikers, waiting for the sand to settle which took "forever" according to my 6 year old!!):

Day 3: Sand has settled. We're discovering hitchhikers (so far we have 10 snails, 2 hermit crabs, 1 gorilla crab, one cucumber. Funny, I have a rubbermaid container for mixed water, and I found a baby crab in it this morning. I'm not sure how the crab got out there, the shipment and the container had no connection (that I know of) but he was there, so I placed him in the tank, and he quickly disappeared in the rock. Also, the rocks are starting to bloom today. I first noticed little "tentacles" all over the rock, and little plans are blooming. TOO COOL!

I'll post more pics once I get my macro and as the tank progresses.

Thanks Tampa Bay Saltwater!!!! I love the rock, these pictures don't do them justice.. maybe my other lens will. ;)

I have 2 gorilla crabs I've been trying to catch. I think they have outsmarted me. We've come close each time, but the last time the gorilla stole my bait then retreated into his little hole so fast I couldn't grab him.... he's feasting right now.

Things are starting to bloom. I haven't any more pictures, but I'll post them once I take some more. Seeing several feather dusters. Oh and saw a worm or something. It was so fast I could hardly tell what it was.. maybe 2" in length, dark grey or black.

Found the miracle crab that was found in the rubbermaid container. he's still alive and well, so I'm thankful he made the transition from ocean to rock to fL to SC to the rubbermaid tank now to the tank ;)

We're having to pull ourselves away from staring at the tank!

Cool pics Cheryl! Looking forward to more... Your part 1 is looking great! But, just you wait for part 2. You'll be blown away!!!

Richard really knows what he's doing, doesn't he?!

So my ammonia is down to .35... it's been hovering at 1.00 with a spike. I did a water change and it went to .50, now it's at .25; am I waiting for it to go to 0 before part 2?
