Some questions...

I received some nice round pieces of Cap from Adam. Looking for some suggestions to how you connect that to the side of your rock? I have holdfast and aquamend. I tried the holdfast but was very unsuccessful with that. Taking out the rock piece is not an option. Will that harden using it under water? Is there a trick I'm not getting?

Second question. Tonight I found a few spots of coraline algae on my Marco rock . They are about the size of a dime and a quarter. I know that is good but do you generally see it this quick? My tank was filled over the 4th of July weekend. So its only been running 2 months.

superglue gel, works great underwater. Those others take too long to cure and arent very sticky. Superglue may take a few apllications if the corals are slimy

the trick with getting the gel to set underwater is to 1) apply excess so that you create a glue 'bag' in the crevice/crack between the coral and the rock 2) immediately "spread" it so as to break the barrier that has formed. Once you've bursted and spread the glue 'bag' you will generally get a good hold. If the piece is sideways make sure to hold it for 45 seconds. I would do a second round of this procedure on the opposite side as well.

I would advise you to first glue the frag to a very small piece of rock rubble, then glue that rock to the larger rock. Then, like I explained, do the opposite side.

I find that aquamend takes too long to set for use on anything but a nearly horizontal surface.

The coraline certainly can grow that quick. In another month or two you will be cursing that you have to start scaping the glass

I'll use the superglue then. Tried it once but as Adam says they were slimy. Maybe I didn't use enough. I'll give it another go tomorrow morning...... Thanks.....

Ditto on the superglue gel. I found the best place to get it is at the Dollar Tree Stores. $1 for 3 tubes.

+1 on Superglue Gel. If I'm mounting a frag directly into the tank, and not on a rubble piece, I put a nice big blob of it on the base of the coral, then stick the tube in the tank and put a big blob on the rock where I want the coral to sit. Like someone else said, once the glue hits the water, it will create a "skin", which will need to be broken by moving the coral around slightly. Hold in place for a min or so, and you should be good to go!
