Thats a lot of actinic!!! i guess growth is pretty slow but makes the colors pop. have you ever measured lux or par on your tank?

snaza and naldopr, I'm sure his PAR is quite high, even with all of the actinic lamps. The ATI Powermodule is a tremendous fixture and is a PAR monster. I used to use one and I had PAR of more than 350 at the substrate level. The biggest problem I had was with bleaching of corals, certainly not inadequate light. Szymon's use of actinics provides a nice balance.

Szymon, Great tank and pics. I noticed that in the TOTM article you say that your PO4 is undetectable. What are you using to test? The reason I ask is because I've been reading a lot about how people who have 0 PO4 noticed the color of SPS fade, and see better results when keeping it around .01-.03 However it doesn't look like you have that problem even with PO4 at 0.

I plan on using t5's on a 55 and really like the look your bulb combo gives. Any suggestions on getting the same look with a 6bulb combo?

I have a question about ATI powermodule.

In your picture the height ATI from water surface is a little high. What is your lighting position between ATI powermodeul and water surface?

Do you have a reason to maintain that height?

I would probably go with the 8x24. It will give you the most light from the shorter bulbs...

Pito - is good to use hanna or some of the expensive drop-tests for measure PO4 levels

7thheaven - now the lamp is 30-35 cm above the wates surface - it give the "one light effect', light from every bulb is mixed, not the "rainbow effect" when fixture is 5cm above

ClownReef® - 8*24w or 10*24w would be nice

I understand what you want to say.

But Do you think its light is a little weak than 5cm?

My height is 15cm and the photoperiod is 7hours. If I raise the ATI to 30~35cm, Should I add the photoperiod too?

My Powermodule was frequently as much as 12" off the water surface because the light was too intense for the corals. This is especially important when acclimating new specimens. Sorry, Szymon, to answer questions for you, especially since you already answered it with the most important statement, "Corals will tell you what you have to do."

Ive never responded to this thread, but your tank has always been one of my favorite, if not my favorite, reef tanks of ALL time. So pretty!! Really good use of the space you have. Great placement of corals and of colors. I model mine after yours even though its much newer and much more immature. Here's a recent shot:
