The price tag was waaay up there to I don't know if I could have justified it but I would sure have liked to have the chance to!

Aussie acros are amazing.

Why are they not sending them out more for import if it's so common? Serious question... I think if they were imported commonly the price would go down....only makes sense.

i will tell you that it is very difficult to maintain that purple. i have the just about same coral on the sand bed 20" under 400w mh's and i cant get close to that color.

I currently deal with a few wholesalers here in aus, anything nice gets priority to overseas, but acros we get rediculous selections, I'd have to say I've never ordered an acropora wholesale with a bad colour. I assume this is because above mention, survivability ect. Im currently in discussions with australian customs into regards for exporting aquacultured corals that aren't collected from the reef requestion a pardon of sort as the specimens are not reef collected. Fingers crossed they come to a concensus with me. I find it astonishing the price difference in the us. I would have trouble selling the pictured acropora for $70 here

What are the average prices on acros colonies there?

The above acro is common in blue here but not in purple as shown above. Size dependant acros range from $30-$90 in Sydney with that one being higher end. Freight is what also determines the price, the more pieces per box can amortise the freight of approx $80 per 40 pound box over more prices.

I've always been surprised that they don't have Aussie Mariculture corals. You would think it would be a pretty big initiative in a Country like Australia to support sustainable collection.

It's illegal here that's why it don't happen.

Wait so it's legal to collect and export but not to collect and propagate then export? I don't understand, aren't like huge portions of the reef dying couldn't they collect and reseed the dying portions of the reef and maricutlure at the same time much like they are doing on many of the islands where damage has been done.
