Someone Help This Mandarin!

We just got back from the Animal House on 34th street and I am absolutely appalled at the poor little mandarin they had there. I was tempted to purchase it simply because it is STARVING clearly where it is. It will die in a matter of days as its stomach is completely sunken in. Is someone out there willing to save a life?? We would, but we only have a 29 gallon that certainly could not provide enough pods to sustain it :(

Once a fish starts the process of starvation, you can usually do little for it. Secondly, let the LFS keep the fish so when it dies, they take the financial loss, which will effect their bottom line. Buying the fish is noble but most likely it will die and encourage the store to keep selling them since you bought the last one.

I understand that there might be little anyone can do but its hard to let that happen without trying. Not to mention they sell these all the time and I'm always in wonder as to why/how they can keep them in their little container with absolutely no source of food or even LR. But I have never seen one in this kind of condition...ever. And I don't think that avoiding the purchase of this one will change their minds. They are obviously selling them and will continue to do so. I just can't see sitting back and letting it die.

Once the stomach is shrunken, it simply cannot digest anymore. It's tragic, but I think it's already gone.

Please keep away from that store. That is the best thing you could do for the little guy and thanks for the information.
