I can home from work today and found my toadstool mushroom and a yellow leather coral with a chunk taken out of them. Do emerald crabs eat corals? I also have a Harliquin crab that hides in the rocks all day eating his Chocolate star fish, could he have done it? I know none of my fish are big enough to take that big of a chunk out of them. Any input for me?

I would suspect the crab, as usual, its not long before peaple realize that other than the commensal types, there is no such thing as a free ranging reef safe crab. If it has claws and can walk around, all other life in the tank sooner or later ends up on the menu.

Is it a harlequin crab or a harlequin shrimp? Chocolate chip starfish eat corals. Is this a clearly "chewed" chunk or could the digestive feeding of a starfish have done it?

It looks like a clean slice. I made a mistake and called it a Harlequin crab when it is a Harlequin Shrimp.
