Something I got to see my Stomatella Snails do

So I just happened to be staring into my tank one evening (just before lights out) about 1 month ago. I noticed 2 of my Stomatella Snails acting strangely. One was at the very top of the tank and appeared to be standing up. The other was mid way down on a different rock and was also doing the same thing, and I noticed it was huge and swollen.

I looked back at the top one and it was pulsing and you could see it discharging something (at the time I was unsure). It stopped pulsing and I looked down to the larger one. All of a sudden it started pulsing, EGGS! Lots and lots of eggs. y Cardinals were having a hay day eating them, I would say at least half of what she released didnt end up as food. Then it dawned on me what the top snail was discharging...

I've seen a few new smaller snails in the tank and Im hoping that more of those little snails got fertilized. Its amazing what you see in these small little eco systems we have.

Congrats and yes you will have many baby stomatella snails. They're prolific breeders and as long as there's food they will reproduce.

I've seen mine several times doing the stand up act, but never the sperm or eggs being released. Since adding my Yellow Candy Hogfish and then my Matted File Fish they don't come out until after dark or in this case lights out..

I had some stomatellas hitch hike in on some corals, I now have at least 100. They're everywhere... lol. They're pretty great though.

The tank is only 3 months old, but everything is doing fantastic! All my corals are growing fast and nicely. With the exception of my Goniopora, which I posted about in another thread. Im very happy with the way everything is going with the tank and Im ready for an upgrade already.
